Anze Kopitar played a key role by scoring once and assisting twice, which included reaching his 800th career assist, as the Los Angeles Kings secured a 6-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday.
The Kings also had goals from Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala, Warren Foegele, Alex Laferriere, and Joel Edmundson. Brandt Clarke assisted three times and Mikey Anderson contributed two assists. Darcy Kuemper managed to make 23 saves.
By assisting Fiala's goal, Kopitar became the fifth non-North American player to achieve 800 assists in the NHL.
For the Golden Knights, Pavel Dorofeyev scored twice and Tanner Pearson once, while Ilya Samsonov made 20 saves.
The Kings' offensive bursts were pivotal, highlighted by back-to-back goals within 42 seconds from Foegele and Kempe, and another quick pair within 100 seconds from Fiala and Edmundson.
Kopitar has the highest number of points against the Golden Knights, totaling 15 goals and 39 points in 34 matches.
The upcoming schedule has Vegas facing Utah on Saturday and Los Angeles playing Chicago at home.
