Arber Xhekaj, the defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, will not be participating further this season because he needs surgery on his left shoulder.
The procedure is set for Wednesday, with expectations for Xhekaj to return in time for the upcoming season's kick-off.
This season, at 23 years old, he has made contributions of 10 points, comprising three goals and seven assists, alongside a plus-6 rating over 44 games with the Canadiens. Additionally, his time playing for the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League saw him amassing 11 points from three goals and eight assists, with a plus-3 rating across 17 games.
Over his career with Montreal, Xhekaj has accumulated 23 points from eight goals and 15 assists, maintaining a minus-3 rating through 95 games.
Already out of the playoffs with a record of 29-36-12, giving them 70 points, the Canadiens have five more games planned for this season. Their next game is at home against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.
