Artturi Lehkonen made his return from shoulder surgery during the season opener by scoring the crucial power-play goal that pushed the team ahead. Nathan MacKinnon contributed significantly with five assists, leading the Colorado Avalanche to a 6-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken.
Mikko Rantanen contributed with two goals, helping the Avalanche end their three-game losing streak. Additional goals for Colorado came from Ivan Ivan, Nikolai Kovalenko, and Chris Wagner.
Cale Makar provided two assists, although his performance was impacted by an apparent injury in the second half of the game. Both MacKinnon and Makar continued their streak of earning points in each of the first 13 games of the season.
For the Kraken, goals came from Jared McCann, Jaden Schwartz, and Brandon Montour.
The Kraken have struggled against Colorado recently, recording a 3-7-1 record in their last 11 regular-season matchups. Justus Annunen contributed to the Avalanche's success by saving 17 shots, and the team has won five of their six games with him as the goaltender.
Artturi Lehkonen's goal was particularly significant, providing a boost to Colorado's lineup, which is currently missing key players Ross Colton, Gabriel Landeskog, Jonathan Drouin, and the suspended Valeri Nichushkin.
The impressive point streaks of Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar are currently the longest active streaks in the NHL.
Looking ahead, Seattle is set to host Vegas on Friday, while Colorado will travel to play against Winnipeg on Thursday.
