In the third period, Auston Matthews scored twice to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators, securing their third consecutive win.

Toronto also benefited from a goal by William Nylander and 22 saves from Joseph Woll in the net. Mitch Marner contributed with three assists, helping the Leafs achieve their 10th win in 12 games.

For Nashville, Jonathan Marchessault and Mark Jankowski found the back of the net, but the team extended their losing streak to five games. Juuse Saros stopped 25 shots for the Predators.

Matthews' second goal came after he maneuvered past Nyquist and skillfully beat Saros for his eighth goal of the season.

Despite adding key players like Marchessault and Steven Stamkos, the Predators are still struggling, sitting at the bottom of the league with an average of 2.32 goals per game.

Looking ahead, the Predators are set to play against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, while the Maple Leafs are preparing to host the Washington Capitals on Friday, wrapping up their homestand.
