Auston Matthews, the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, will not participate in Tuesday’s match against the Boston Bruins because of an upper-body injury.
In the Sunday overtime defeat for Toronto, Matthews contributed with an assist and played over 22 minutes. His recovery from the injury is on a day-to-day basis.
During Tuesday’s morning practice, Max Domi took Matthews' spot on the top line.
At age 27, Matthews has accumulated 11 points over 13 games this season. He topped the NHL in goals for the third time in four seasons last year, achieving a personal best of 69 goals.
Since being drafted first overall by Toronto in 2016, Matthews has amassed 660 points in 575 career games.
