In Winnipeg, the Colorado Avalanche, led by Artturi Lehkonen, unleashed a powerful attack in the second period by netting four goals, propelling them to a 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets. This victory levels the series at 1-1.
Contributions came from Miles Wood, Zach Parise, Josh Manson, and Valeri Nichushkin for the Avalanche, while David Gustafsson and Mark Scheifele put points on the board for the Jets. The Avalanche overcame an early deficit to establish a 4-1 lead by the end of the second period.
The game's initial goal was courtesy of Gustafsson for Winnipeg, yet Wood's goal in the second period initiated a comeback for the Avalanche. A significant moment was a four-minute power play for Colorado, during which Lehkonen, Parise, and Manson rapidly fired goals past the opposition, thanks to a high-sticking penalty on Kyle Connor.
While Winnipeg attempted to counter with a goal from Scheifele, Colorado maintained dominance and expanded their advantage with a goal into an empty net by Nichushkin during the third period.
Alexandar Georgiev, in goal for Colorado, redeemed himself with 28 saves after a less impressive debut in the series, whereas Connor Hellebuyck, the Jets' goalie, managed 27 saves from 31 shots.
The third game of this best-of-seven series is set to take place in Denver on the upcoming Friday night.
