Midway through the second period of Colorado's 6-3 win over Seattle, their top defenseman, Cale Makar, exited the game due to an unspecified injury. Although he briefly returned in the final period, Makar was unable to continue playing.
Following the game, Coach Jared Bednar chose not to reveal any details regarding Makar's injury.
Makar had made significant contributions before his exit, providing two assists and extending his season-opening point streak to 13 games. This matches the career-high point streak he achieved earlier in 2022.
Prior to the matchup, Makar was tied for the lead in the league with 21 points.
