Chicago Blackhawks News & Updates

This year's Calder Trophy nominations, which honor the best first-year player in the NHL, include Connor Bedard, Brock Faber, and Luke Hughes.

Chosen first in the 2023 NHL Draft, Bedard quickly became the Chicago Blackhawks' premier center. Even with an absence of 14 games because of an injury, he dominated among newcomers in goals, assists, and total points.

Faber, selected in the second round of the 2020 draft, has proven to be crucial for the defensive lineup of the Minnesota Wild. His assist tally matches that of Bedard, making him a top provider among rookies, and places him second in total points.

Hughes, taken in the first round of the 2021 draft, has shown outstanding performance in his debut season with the New Jersey Devils. Leading the rookie group in power-play points, he also shares the spot for second in total points with Faber and holds the third position in assists.
