The Boston Red Sox were defeated by the New York Yankees with a final score of 5-3 in their game last night. The match was closely contested throughout, as both teams exchanged hits in the initial innings.
The Yankees gained the early advantage in the second inning thanks to a solo home run by Aaron Judge against Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta. The Red Sox answered back in the fourth inning when Rafael Devers hit a double that brought in two runs, putting them ahead.
The Yankees recaptured the lead in the fifth inning when Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer. The Red Sox equalized in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly from Alex Verdugo.
Nevertheless, the Yankees surged ahead in the eighth inning by scoring two more runs, including a solo home run by Joey Gallo. The Red Sox could not mount a comeback in the ninth inning, resulting in a 5-3 victory for the Yankees.
Nick Pivetta pitched for 4.1 innings for the Red Sox, conceding four runs on five hits. On the Yankees' side, Jonathan Loaisiga was the starting pitcher, giving up two runs on five hits over 4.2 innings.
