Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Laurent Brossoit has encountered a setback due to an operation on his right knee. Brossoit had surgery on the meniscus, with team physician Michael Terry estimating his recovery to take between five and seven weeks.
The Blackhawks' training camp is set to start in mid-September, with their season opener against Utah scheduled for October 8th. Brossoit, who signed a two-year contract in July, is expected to act as Petr Mrazek's backup throughout the season.
Brossoit was a sixth-round draft pick in 2011 and has a career record of 64-46-13, with a goals-against average of 2.64 and a .911 save percentage. His previous teams include the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, and Vegas Golden Knights before joining Chicago.
