The Chicago Blackhawks have secured the services of forwards Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty, along with a second-round pick for the year 2027, from the Vancouver Canucks.
In this transaction, the Canucks agreed to retain 15% of Mikheyev's salary. At 29 years old, Mikheyev managed to net 11 goals and provide 20 assists over 78 games last season after signing with Vancouver as a free agent in 2022.
Lafferty, who is also 29, is making a return to the Blackhawks following a series of trades involving both Toronto and Vancouver. Last season, he recorded 13 goals and 11 assists across 79 games for the Canucks. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent soon.
The NHL's free agent signing period kicks off on Monday.
