Chicago Blackhawks News & Updates

Lukas Reichel, selected in the first round of the 2020 draft, is set to make his season debut for the Chicago Blackhawks during their home game against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

Reichel will be playing as the center of Chicago's fourth line, partnering with Pat Maroon and Craig Smith. Coach Luke Richardson thinks this game against the Sharks is a perfect chance for Reichel to join the team on the ice.

Alec Martinez has been put on the injured reserve list due to an issue with his right groin. To replace him, defenseman Isaak Phillips has been called up from Rockford.

Both goaltender Laurent Brossoit and defenseman Artyom Levshunov are still unable to play because of injuries. They are not yet ready to start practicing with the team.

Since making his NHL debut almost three years back, Reichel has experienced bouts of inconsistency. Even though he had a promising end to last season with eight games, his overall statistics were limited to five goals and 11 assists in 65 games.

Reichel has been frustrated with being a healthy scratch in the first four games this season. Nonetheless, he is focusing on maintaining a positive attitude and making an impact whenever he gets the chance.
