Connor Bedard contributed with an assist, maintaining his top position in the points tally for rookies. Goals and assists were recorded by Philipp Kurashev, Joey Anderson, and Lukas Reichel, each playing a pivotal role in the Chicago Blackhawks' 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Nick Foligno and MacKenzie Entwistle found the back of the net for the Blackhawks, a team in the midst of rebuilding and positioned towards the lower end of the NHL rankings. Arvid Soderblom stopped 29 shots in goal.
The Flyers saw their lone goal from Tyson Foerster, while Samuel Ersson blocked 19 shots. The Flyers, despite predictions of undergoing a rebuilding phase, are still competing for a playoff spot, barely leading Washington by one point for the final position.
The Blackhawks gained an early advantage over the Flyers, with Reichel scoring two minutes into the match. Bedard set up Kurashev for a goal, elevating his season points total to 57.
The Flyers narrowed the lead following a goal from Foerster after a fight between Scott Laughton and Ryan Donato. Nonetheless, Chicago increased their lead during the second period with Foligno's goal during a power play. The third period saw Anderson and Entwistle extending their lead with additional goals.
Philadelphia couldn't capitalize on any of their three chances on the power play. Ivan Fedotov was on standby as the Flyers' backup goalie, having been added to the team just a day earlier.
Next, the Blackhawks are scheduled to play against the Islanders on Tuesday, and the Flyers will face off against the Islanders on Monday.
