The Chicago Blackhawks have sent forwards Frank Nazar and AJ Spellacy, along with defensemen Kevin Korchinski and Louis Crevier, to their affiliate teams in the minor leagues.
Nazar, who was chosen in the first round in 2022, made an impact by scoring during his NHL debut in April. However, despite his skills, the team's new signings in the offseason have reduced his opportunities for playing time.
Korchinski, selected seventh overall in 2022, accumulated 15 points over 76 games last year. Coach Luke Richardson believes that moving him to the minor league will give him a chance to hone his abilities without the immediate pressures of the NHL.
Spellacy, a promising 18-year-old who was picked in the third round of the draft, has made a strong impression during training camp. He will be joining the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League.
With these roster decisions, the Blackhawks now have 28 players remaining in their training camp and are set to begin their season on Tuesday night in Utah.
