St. Louis Blues News & Updates

Brandon Saad led the St. Louis Blues to a win by scoring in overtime at 2:09, resulting in a 3-2 upset against the Edmonton Oilers. The match took place on Monday night where Brayden Schenn added two goals to the tally and Jordan Binnington contributed with 35 saves, pushing St. Louis to notch an impressive 8-2-1 record over their recent 11 games.

The Oilers' goals came from Mattias Ekholm and Leon Draisaitl, with Stuart Skinner defending the net with 26 saves. Despite their efforts, Edmonton's series of three consecutive wins came to an end. Draisaitl continued to shine by scoring his 39th goal of the season and extending his scoring streak to eight games, with an assist from Connor McDavid.

Schenn's second score of the night was facilitated by a pass from Kasperi Kapanen just 1:44 into the third period, putting St. Louis ahead at 2-1. Ekholm was the first to put Edmonton on the scoreboard with a powerful slap shot early in the first period.

Edmonton experienced setbacks with two goals being revoked due to penalties for goaltender interference. An attempt by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was disallowed early in the second period, followed by Evander Kane's goal being nullified later in the same period for a high-sticking violation.

A skirmish that resulted in Evander Kane stripping Tyler Tucker of his helmet and earning a penalty for unsportsmanlike behavior led to Schenn utilizing the advantage to score and draw the game at 1-1, nine minutes into the second period.

Looking forward, the Oilers are set to face Dallas on Wednesday night, while the Blues will commence a three-game trip on the road with their first stop in Nashville on Thursday night.
