The St. Louis Blues emerged victorious against the Minnesota Wild in a shootout with a scoreline of 3-2, led by the impressive performances of Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn.
In addition to scoring during the shootout, Kyrou and Schenn also netted goals during the regular game, contributing to the Blues' triumph in their third straight match. Jordan Binnington played a pivotal role in goal, stopping 22 shots for St. Louis.
The competition for a playoff spot is intense, with the Blues and Wild striving to outdo the Vegas Golden Knights for the ultimate wild card position.
For Minnesota, Kirill Kaprizov contributed a goal and an assist, while Marco Rossi found the back of the net as well. In goal, Marc-Andre Fleury was formidable, making 35 saves even into overtime.
During the shootout, Robert Thomas and Jake Neighbours were unable to score for St. Louis, but Schenn and Kyrou stepped up to ensure victory. Matt Boldy managed to score the only shootout goal for Minnesota.
Fleury has been in goal for Minnesota's last five matches, coming off a shutout victory over Anaheim on Thursday, bringing his career total shutouts to 75.
Kyrou was the first to score in the match, securing a goal on a power play early in the second period. Schenn extended the Blues' lead in the third period.
In a thrilling third period, Rossi and Kaprizov scored goals for Minnesota, bringing the game to a tie and resulting in overtime.
