In a thrilling overtime game, the Minnesota Wild triumphed over the Nashville Predators with a final score of 4-3. With their goalie pulled three minutes into the overtime, it was Matt Boldy of the Wild who clinched the victory with a goal, thanks to an assist from Mats Zuccarello, getting it past Predators' goalkeeper Juuse Saros.
The contest saw six goals before reaching its climax, featuring key contributions in the third period from Ryan Hartman of the Wild and Ryan O'Reilly of the Predators. O'Reilly's power-play goal averted a regulation time defeat for the Predators, their first since mid-February.
Highlighting the match's intensity, two brawls occurred in the first period. Marcus Foligno of the Wild and Michael McCarron of the Predators squared off just three minutes into play, quickly followed by a scrap between Mason Shaw and Kiefer Sherwood. Right after the first altercation, Jonas Brodin managed to score, giving the Wild an early lead.
The teams exchanged goals in the second period, with Nashville's Luke Evangelista momentarily putting them ahead until Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov drew the score level again on a power play.
Minnesota's coach, John Hynes, made a daring decision to pull the goalie in overtime, a move that ultimately paid dividends as his team edged closer to a playoff position. Despite the loss, Nashville's Ryan O’Reilly lamented the outcome but praised Minnesota's bold strategy.
