In Raleigh, the Boston Bruins were sparked by David Pastrnak and Danton Heinen, who contributed with both goals and assists within the opening period, leading to a 4-1 triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes.
The initial goal of the game came from Brad Marchand, marking his 400th in his career, and Hampus Lindholm sealed the win with a goal on an empty net. Between the pipes, Jeremy Swayman made 27 saves.
This victory marked the Bruins' third consecutive win and widened their lead by four points over the Hurricanes in the race for Eastern Conference playoff positions. Boston wrapped up its road journey with a record of 4-2-0.
On the opposite side, Frederik Andersen of the Hurricanes experienced his first loss after a 7-0-0 run following his return from an injury, despite his 24 saves. A goal during a power play by Jake Guentzel was the team's only score.
The scoring was kicked off by Marchand early in the game, with an assist from Morgan Geekie. Both Pastrnak and Heinen quickly augmented the lead to 3-0 within the first 11 minutes.
Throughout the game, Swayman was pivotal in preserving the lead, especially notable in the third period where he blocked all nine shots. Guentzel managed to notch the sole goal for the Hurricanes in the second period.
For Boston, Justin Brazeau was unable to play due to an injury, whereas Jesper Fast made a comeback for Carolina after missing six games.
Looking ahead, the Bruins are set to play against Florida on Saturday, while the Hurricanes are preparing to host Washington on Friday night.
