Will Smith, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, has been signed to an entry-level contract by the San Jose Sharks.
During the 2023-24 season as a freshman at Boston College, Smith, who is 19 years old, led the nation with 71 points over 41 games, recording 25 goals and 46 assists.
Mike Grier, the general manager of the Sharks, described Smith as a dynamic and exciting young center, and he expressed great enthusiasm about adding Smith to the team.
Hailing from Lexington, Massachusetts, Smith has received numerous honors, including spots on the AHCA East First Team All-America and the NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament Team. He was also named the MVP of the Hockey East Tournament and included in both the Hockey East First All-Star Team and the Hockey East All-Rookie Team.
Additionally, Smith played a key role in the United States' victories at the 2023 World U18 Championships and the 2024 World Junior Championships, contributing to their gold medal wins.
