Brady Tkachuk's goal during overtime secured a 3-2 win for Ottawa against the Bruins, marking a victorious return to Boston for Linus Ullmark.
Ullmark, who was traded to Ottawa in June, played against his former team after contributing to the Bruins' record-setting performances in wins and points two seasons prior. Boston honored him with a video tribute, during which Ullmark acknowledged the audience with a wave amidst their standing ovation.
Tkachuk's decisive goal occurred just 21 seconds into overtime, delivered through a wrist shot from the right circle during a 2-on-1 play.
For Ottawa, Josh Norris secured a power play goal, and Michael Amadio brought the game to a tie in the second period with a wrist shot. On the Boston side, Pavel Zacha and Brad Marchand each scored within a 15-second span in the second period.
Though the Bruins outshot Ottawa with 34 attempts to their 16, they faced difficulties with giveaways, recording 20 compared to the Senators' 11.
Looking ahead, Ottawa is set to play against Toronto on Tuesday, while the Bruins will be traveling to St. Louis that same evening.
