Brady Tkachuk Named Team USA Captain for the 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship

Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators has been named captain of Team USA and will guide the team in the 2024 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship, beginning their journey on Friday with a match against Sweden in Ostrava, Czechia.

Brock Nelson from the New York Islanders, Seth Jones of the Chicago Blackhawks, and Zach Werenski from the Columbus Blue Jackets have been appointed as the alternate captains for the team.

John Hynes, the head coach of Team USA, commended the leadership qualities of his team, highlighting the importance of shared success. He expressed enthusiasm about the team's prospects at the championship.

At 24, Tkachuk has achieved a personal best this season with the Senators, scoring 37 goals and making 37 assists. Although this is his debut at the IIHF Men's World Championship, he has previous leadership experience, having led the U.S. team to victory at the 2017 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship, where they won the gold medal.
