Brett Kulak netted two goals, and Connor McDavid contributed his first goal of the season, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night.
Edmonton's Jeff Skinner also found the back of the net, and Calvin Pickard delivered 25 saves. The Oilers have now secured two consecutive wins after initially dropping three games. However, they are still attempting to improve their power play effectiveness, having succeeded just once in 13 attempts with the man advantage.
Nashville, who acquired Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei during the offseason, experienced their first 0-4 start since the 2002-03 season. Filip Forsberg and Marchessault scored for the Predators, while Juuse Saros stopped 32 shots.
McDavid's goal, scored just 44 seconds after Nashville equalized at 2-2, turned out to be the deciding factor in the game.
Leon Draisaitl assisted on Edmonton's opening goal, bringing his career total to 43 points, composed of 25 goals and 18 assists, over 27 games against the Predators.
The Oilers will face Dallas for a rematch of last season’s Western Conference final, whereas the Predators will play against Detroit, with both matches scheduled for Saturday.
