Boston Bruins News & Updates

In the fifth game of the playoffs, the Boston Bruins will be playing without their captain, Brad Marchand, as they try to avoid elimination.

Following the team's morning skate, Coach Jim Montgomery confirmed that Marchand would be sitting out for the second game in a row. He is dealing with an upper-body injury he suffered during the third game of the series.

Although Marchand was present during the team's skate, his lack of participation in any of the special teams’ activities signaled that he wouldn’t be playing in the upcoming game.

This is a significant blow to the Bruins since Marchand is the top playoff performer for the team, boasting three goals and a total of 10 points.

The challenge before the Boston team is formidable as they attempt to extend their season without their top scorer. This effort comes as they are currently down 1-3 in their series against the Florida Panthers.

Despite leading by two goals after the initial period in Game 4, the Bruins were ultimately defeated following a third-period power-play goal by Sam Bennett and a deciding goal by Aleksander Barkov.

It's worth noting that the Bruins have never successfully rallied from a 3-1 series deficit in their franchise history.
