The New York Yankees clinched an exciting 5-4 win against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday evening at Yankee Stadium.
Boston took the early lead in the second inning when Rafael Devers hit a solo home run off Yankees' starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. The Yankees quickly countered in the bottom of the inning, as Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer, putting them up 2-1.
The fourth inning saw the Red Sox draw level with a single from J.D. Martinez. However, the Yankees edged ahead once again in the fifth inning, thanks to a sac fly by Giancarlo Stanton. Boston managed to equalize shortly after in the sixth inning, courtesy of a groundout by Alex Verdugo.
In the seventh inning, Judge hit his second home run of the game, a towering solo shot, breaking the tie. The Yankees maintained their advantage, with Aroldis Chapman striking out all three batters in the ninth to secure the win.
Cole achieved nine strikeouts over six innings, while Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi conceded four runs during his six innings on the mound. This victory ended the Yankees' two-game losing streak, improving their record to 6-4, while the Red Sox's record dropped to 4-6.
