Jeremy Swayman had confidently stated that the series would make its way back to Boston, and he stood by his word with an impressive 28-save game.
Charlie McAvoy netted the decisive goal and Morgan Geekie added another to his tally for the Bruins, narrowing their series deficit to 3-2 against the Panthers. Florida's only goal came from Sam Reinhart, while goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 26 shots.
A critical moment for Swayman was a late-game save against Reinhart, securing the win in the closing seconds. Bruins coach Jim Montgomery commended Swayman for his impressive poise and bravado throughout the game.
The victory was somewhat bittersweet for the Bruins as they were still missing Brad Marchand, a key player sidelined for two games with an upper-body injury.
During a TV timeout, Florida's coach Paul Maurice passionately motivated his team, leading to Reinhart's equalizing goal. Yet, it was McAvoy's controversial goal in the second period that reclaimed the lead for the Bruins.
The series is set to continue with Game 6 in Boston on Friday, with the potential for a decisive Game 7 in Florida on Sunday.
