In overtime, a crucial power-play goal by Andrei Kuzmenko secured a 3-2 win for the Calgary Flames against the San Jose Sharks on a recent Tuesday evening.
The decisive moment came when Kuzmenko successfully seized an opportunity during a messy situation in front of the goal, marking an end to the Flames' three-game slide. Alongside him, Rasmus Andersson and Nazem Kadri found the net, with Calgary making good use of two power-play opportunities.
For the Sharks, William Eklund and Jacob MacDonald managed to score, although their efforts couldn't prevent the team from experiencing their fourth loss in the last five games, pushing them dangerously close to finishing with the league's worst record.
Dustin Wolf, the goalie for the Flames, saved 20 shots in his first game against the team from his hometown. Calgary's coach, Ryan Huska, commended Wolf for his steadiness and poise under pressure.
On the other side, Mackenzie Blackwood of the Sharks made an impressive 38 saves. The Sharks saw their first goal from Eklund, who skillfully used a backhand with assistance from Fabian Zetterlund, while MacDonald expanded their lead in the second period.
The Flames managed to equalize prior to the game's midpoint, thanks to goals from Andersson and Kadri. Kadri admitted to a rough start by Calgary but highlighted their overwhelming performance in the subsequent periods.
Next up, the Flames are set to face the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, and the Sharks will head off to compete against the Seattle Kraken on the same day.
