Calgary Flames News & Updates

In Calgary, the Flames secured a shootout victory against the Minnesota Wild with a final score of 4-3, even after losing a two-goal lead late in the third period. Rasmus Andersson played a crucial role in clinching the win during the shootout.

Calgary's scoring in regulation time was bolstered by contributions from Kevin Rooney, Martin Pospisil, and Yegor Sharangovich, helping them achieve their fourth consecutive win.

For Minnesota, Marcus Johansson, Brock Faber, and Marco Rossi found the back of the net, despite experiencing only one regulation loss in their last 13 games on the road.

During the shootout, Frederick Gaudreau and Justin Kirkland both scored, tying it up 1-1 before Andersson's decisive goal in the fifth round. Dan Vladar made a crucial save against Ryan Hartman to ensure the victory.

Vladar returned to the ice, stopping 20 shots after being absent for 11 days, while Filip Gustavsson encountered 28 shots from the Flames.

The absence of Kirill Kaprizov due to injury was felt by Minnesota, whereas Calgary showed improvement on their power play, scoring on four out of their last eight opportunities.

Faber's goal on the power play at 16:49 in the third period sparked Minnesota's late rally, which was capped off by Rossi's goal at 19:26 to tie the game.

Calgary wrapped up a perfect four-game homestand with this win, marking their fifth consecutive victory at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Looking ahead, Minnesota will host Winnipeg on Monday, while Calgary begins a four-game road trip starting in Ottawa.
