Cam Talbot's Shutout Against Predators Leads Red Wings to Season's First Victory

In his first game with Detroit, Cam Talbot delivered an impressive 41 saves, achieving his 32nd career shutout and steering the Red Wings to a 3-0 win against the Nashville Predators.

Detroit's goals came from J.T. Compher, Andrew Copp, and Dylan Larkin, helping the team bounce back from their loss in the season opener against Pittsburgh.

Nashville's Juuse Saros, having recently returned from an injury, stopped 22 shots, and Filip Forsberg played in his 700th NHL match.

Talbot, who joined as a free agent this offseason, showcased exceptional skill by making 16 saves in the first period, followed by 12 in the second, and 13 in the third.

Despite Nashville's multiple attempts, they couldn't get past Talbot's defense, resulting in an 0-2 start to their season.

Talbot's strong performance could position him as Detroit's leading goaltender, ahead of both Alex Lyon and Ville Husso in their competition for the top spot.

A pivotal moment occurred when Talbot thwarted a rebound attempt by Jonathan Marchessault late in the second period, maintaining the Red Wings' lead.

The Red Wings effectively blocked shots throughout the game, recording 31 blocks in contrast to Nashville's 12.

Nashville is set to host Seattle next, while Detroit will head to New York to face the Rangers on Monday.
