Vancouver Canucks News & Updates

The Vancouver Canucks have been forced to substitute their goalkeeper three times within four playoff matches due to injuries.

Casey DeSmith and Arturs Silovs have both clinched their initial playoff victories, propelling the Canucks to the brink of advancement with history on their side.

In his first NHL playoff appearance, Silovs made a significant contribution with 27 saves, leading Vancouver to a 4-3 win in overtime against Nashville.

This achievement marks the second occasion the Canucks have seen three different goaltenders secure their maiden three playoff wins, a repeat of their 2004 success.

The Chicago team is the only other franchise to have achieved wins from three distinct goaltenders in a series.

After Demko was sidelined due to an injury, DeSmith took over the duties for Games 2 and 3 but suffered an injury during a clash with Michael McCarron.

Coach Rick Tocchet has mentioned that DeSmith’s participation in Game 5 will be determined after further evaluation.

Silovs hails from Latvia and has represented his nation in the world championships, showcasing his international experience.

Tocchet has commended Silovs for his calm demeanor and believes his time with Demko and DeSmith has been beneficial for his development.
