Danton Heinen propelled the Vancouver Canucks to a 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring twice in the first period. J.T. Miller contributed with a goal and two assists as Vancouver wrapped up their road trip with a 3-1 record.
Brock Boeser, Conor Garland, and Pius Suter also scored for the Canucks, and Kevin Lankinen made 31 saves against his former team.
Chicago saw Taylor Hall, Ryan Donato, and Tyler Bertuzzi put goals on the board, resulting in their third defeat in four games. Petr Mrazek stopped 24 shots.
Vancouver dominated from the start, with Heinen finding the net just 21 seconds into the contest. He followed up with his second goal at 10:46, putting the Canucks ahead 3-1.
The Blackhawks narrowed the deficit to one, but Garland's goal four minutes before the end of the first restored Vancouver's two-goal lead.
The Canucks made the most of their power-play opportunities, scoring on both, whereas Chicago converted just one out of five chances.
For Vancouver, Boeser's goal extended his scoring streak to two games, amassing four goals and two assists over six games.
On the flip side, the Blackhawks' defense had difficulty containing the Canucks, especially near the net.
A significant moment was when Vancouver had a seven-player advantage on the ice, leading to Garland's goal in the first period.
Notably, the Canucks have won their last eight matchups against Chicago, a streak dating back to November 2021.
Looking ahead, Vancouver will host Pittsburgh on Saturday, while Chicago is set to face Nashville on Friday.
