Nashville Predators News & Updates

Reserve goalkeeper Casey DeSmith achieved his inaugural playoff win, assisting the Vancouver Canucks in reclaiming the home-ice advantage over the Nashville Predators.

In a pivotal match, DeSmith blocked 30 attempts, propelling the Canucks to a narrow 2-1 triumph and pushing them ahead with a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-seven contest. Remarkably, the Canucks managed this feat while limiting their shots on goal to just 12, a rarity not seen since 2017.

Contributions came strong from J.T. Miller, who netted a power-play goal and added an assist, and Brock Boeser, whose power-play goal clinched the win. Additionally, Quinn Hughes made his mark with two assists.

Luke Evangelista put the Predators on the scoreboard with a late top-shelf wrister, preventing a shutout with just over three minutes left in the game. Even with the strategic removal of goalie Juuse Saros, the Predators couldn't break through DeSmith's defense.

Vancouver's coach, Rick Tocchet, commended DeSmith for his resolve and performance. On the opposing side, Predators coach Andrew Brunette acknowledged the difficulty his team faced against the Canucks’ strong defense, despite the game being exciting.

While the Predators have been faltering in their power play, managing only a single goal in 14 attempts, the Canucks showed efficiency by capitalizing on 2 out of 3 power play opportunities. Roman Josi voiced the need for better dynamics and shot choices to penetrate the Canucks' defense.

Following this defeat, the Predators' record in Game 3s on their home ice slips to 11-4. Their last Game 3 loss was against Colorado in 2022, when they were swept.
