Colorado Avalanche News & Updates

Connor McMichael found the net twice, guiding the Washington Capitals to a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.

The Capitals capitalized early, scoring four goals from their first ten shots, with contributions from Jakub Vrana, Jakob Chychrun, and Rasmus Sandin. Charlie Lindgren helped secure the win by making 17 saves for Washington.

Valeri Nichushkin rejoined the Avalanche after a six-month suspension, but the team's offense was still lacking creativity. Although Jonathan Drouin and Miles Wood returned from injuries, the Avalanche struggled to find their form.

Parker Kelly gave the Avalanche an initial lead before Vrana and McMichael swiftly turned the game in the Capitals' favor. Nikolai Kovalenko narrowed the gap to 3-2, but Chychrun extended Washington's lead once again.

In the final period, McMichael intercepted a pass at the Colorado blue line and scored on Annunen, increasing the score to 4-2.

Nathan MacKinnon, who leads the NHL in scoring, was unable to record a point at home for the first time this season.

Next up for the Capitals is a game against Vegas on Sunday, while the Avalanche will start a four-game road trip in Philadelphia on Monday.
