In a clash between the leading teams of the Metropolitan Division, the Washington Capitals triumphed over the New Jersey Devils with a 6-5 victory in Newark. This win marked Washington's seventh consecutive success on the road, tying their franchise record.
For the Capitals, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Rasmus Sandin, and Taylor Raddysh each had a goal and an assist. Raddysh broke a 4-4 tie with a late third-period tip-in, which was quickly followed by Dubois' goal 10 seconds later, extending Washington's lead to 6-4.
John Carlson was instrumental for Washington with three assists, while Jakob Chychrun continued his scoring streak, finding the net for the third time in four games.
