The Washington Capitals strengthened their lineup by bringing in goalie Logan Thompson from the Vegas Golden Knights. In return, the Capitals gave up two third-round picks in 2024 and 2025.
Having traded Darcy Kuemper to the Los Angeles Kings during a previous offseason, the Capitals were on the lookout for a new goaltender. Thompson, a Stanley Cup champion and NHL All-Star, fits the bill for a team with deep playoff ambitions.
The Golden Knights maintain strong goaltending depth with Adin Hill and Jiri Patera. They recently added Akira Schmid and Alexander Holtz from the New Jersey Devils, trading Paul Cotter and a 2025 third-round pick in the process.
