Martin Necas and Andrei Svechnikov were key players in helping the Carolina Hurricanes secure a 5-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche, ending their three-game losing streak.
Necas contributed with a power-play goal and an assist, while Svechnikov achieved a goal and added three assists, marking his first four-point game.
Additional goals for Carolina came from Eric Robinson, Seth Jarvis, and Jack Roslovic, while Pyotr Kochetkov tallied 17 saves.
For Colorado, Valeri Nichushkin scored twice and Artturi Lehkonen netted one goal. Cale Makar contributed two assists, and Scott Wedgewood recorded 29 saves.
Necas scored a power-play goal that took Carolina to a 4-2 lead with just over two minutes left in the third period. Although Nichushkin narrowed the gap for Colorado, Svechnikov secured the victory with an empty-net goal.
The Hurricanes successfully converted two of five power play opportunities, whereas the Avalanche conceded four or more goals for the sixth time in seven games.
In the third period, the Hurricanes effectively nullified a lengthy Colorado power play, including a 5-on-3 situation lasting 36 seconds, to keep a two-goal margin.
The Avalanche are set to play in Detroit on Saturday, while the Hurricanes will compete against the New York Islanders.
