Center Casey Mittelstadt signed a three-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, affirming his place on the team.
Although financial terms haven't been disclosed, sources suggest that Mittelstadt will earn $5.75 million each year.
Mittelstadt, who was a restricted free agent prior to the deal, quickly became a top priority for the Avalanche as they looked to strengthen their lineup after winning the Stanley Cup two years ago. The team had acquired him from the Buffalo Sabres during a deadline trade.
After joining the Avalanche, Mittelstadt filled the crucial second-line center role, a position left vacant following Nazem Kadri's departure. He made a notable impact by scoring 18 goals and accumulating 57 points over 80 games.
In the postseason, Mittelstadt continued to excel, recording three goals and nine assists across 11 games. Despite the team making it to the Western Conference semifinals, they were ultimately defeated by the Dallas Stars.
With Mittelstadt re-signed, the Avalanche can now concentrate on enhancing their roster, which includes standout players like Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantanen. Currently, the team has $10.466 million in salary cap space available for potential new additions.
