New Jersey Devils News & Updates

Thomas Chabot and Mathieu Joseph contributed significantly to the Ottawa Senators' victory, each scoring a goal and an assist, which helped snap their three-game skid by defeating the New Jersey Devils 5-2 on a Saturday encounter.

Additional goals for Ottawa came from Angus Crookshank, Ridley Greig, and Drake Batherson, with Brady Tkachuk setting up two goals. In goal, Joonas Korpisalo stopped 18 shots, marking his 16th win of the season.

For the Devils, Jesper Bratt and Tomas Nosek managed to score, but their bid for a third consecutive win was halted. Goaltender Jake Allen faced 20 shots and let in five, adjusting his record since moving from Montreal to 3-2.

After finding themselves behind 2-1 in the second period, Ottawa bounced back with goals from Crookshank, Greig, and Chabot. Reflecting on the game, Joseph remarked on the team's ability to remain poised and keep the lead through the final period.

New Jersey struggled with their power play opportunities, only managing two shots from four power play chances. Joseph's early goal, a short-handed one, was Ottawa's fifth of the season, giving them an initial 1-0 lead.

The Devils' interim coach, Travis Green, noted the team's subpar performance, stating that the players didn't reach their usual level of play.

Looking ahead, the Senators are set to play against the Edmonton Oilers at home on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Devils plan to begin a three-game road stretch, starting with a match against the New York Islanders.
