Colorado Avalanche News & Updates

The Colorado Avalanche are heading into training camp with several open positions and unresolved issues to tackle.

Coach Jared Bednar has stated that there is no set timeline for the return of captain Gabriel Landeskog or forward Artturi Lehkonen. On the other hand, forward Val Nichushkin will face suspension until mid-November due to a breach of the NHL's player assistance program.

Despite the challenges, Bednar intends to discuss the situation with the team, acknowledging that Nichushkin has previously let them down. Nonetheless, the team values him and remains committed to offering their support.

The Avalanche remain optimistic about Landeskog's return, who has been out with a knee injury. According to Bednar, Landeskog's comeback will hinge on his readiness. The team is also being careful with Lehkonen, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.
