On Sunday, the Boston Bruins marked the 100th anniversary of their inaugural NHL game with a 6-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens.
Charlie McAvoy scored twice for the Bruins, with one goal coming during a 70-second span when the team notched three goals in the first period. Charlie Coyle also added two goals to the team's total.
For Montreal, Cole Caufield managed to score twice, though the team has now lost four of their last five matches.
The game was attended by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman as the Bruins commemorated their first century.
A notable moment occurred during the pregame ceremony when past and present players, such as Bobby Orr, Willie O'Ree, Ray Bourque, and Johnny Bucyk, ceremoniously closed the vault on the last century of the Bruins' history.
A significant statistic was the Bruins' three goals scored within 70 seconds.
The Canadiens will be hosting the Rangers on Tuesday, while the Bruins will be back at home to face the Red Wings the same night.
