Ottawa Senators' leader Claude Giroux steered his team to a thrilling 3-2 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets, marking back-to-back wins. During the match, Giroux found the net during regular play and once more during the shootout, playing a pivotal role in the team's success.
The Senators were trailing by two goals in the final period but mounted a comeback thanks to Giroux's skillful tip-in and a late equalizer by Tim Stützle. Giroux then clinched the win with a slap shot in the shootout that took Blue Jackets' goalie Elvis Merzlikins by surprise.
Despite their defeat, Columbus had an early lead with Boone Jenner scoring 15 seconds into the match, achieving a team milestone as the first to hit 20 goals this season. Nevertheless, Senators' goalie Anton Forsberg secured the game with 35 saves, denying Columbus any chance of a comeback.
Following this loss, which is the third in a row for the Blue Jackets, they are set to host the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. The Senators, on the other hand, will be headed to take on the New York Islanders on the same day.
