The Columbus Blue Jackets have extended forward Yegor Chinakhov's contract for two years, valuing the deal at $4.2 million.
Meanwhile, the team is considering trade options for winger Patrik Laine, who has communicated his wish to leave through his agent.
The Blue Jackets are also on the lookout for a new coach after parting ways with Pascal Vincent earlier this week.
Chinakhov has shown potential in his first three seasons with Columbus, scoring 56 points over 145 games.
Laine, who joined the team in a 2021 trade with Winnipeg, has had a difficult season due to injuries. He has accumulated 138 points in 174 games for Columbus.
General manager Don Waddell stresses that any trade involving Laine will only proceed if it is a sensible move and will not include retaining salary.
