Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

Connor McDavid, captain of the Oilers, made NHL history by setting a new record for the most assists in a single postseason with 32. He reached this milestone during Edmonton's 8-1 win against the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Wayne Gretzky, who had 31 assists during the 1988 postseason. The Oilers' win reduced their deficit in the Final to 3-1.

Despite his remarkable performance, which also included his first goal of the series, McDavid remained modest. He commented that it was just one win and emphasized the need to go to Florida and do their job.

The victory significantly improved Edmonton's offense, which had been struggling earlier in the series. McDavid now has 38 points in the postseason, the highest total among active players. He also set another record by becoming the first player since 1987 to record four points in a Stanley Cup Final game while facing elimination.

Teammate Leon Draisaitl commended McDavid's perseverance and highlighted the team's dedication to staying focused and collaborating effectively. He expressed hope that they could build on this momentum.
