Connor McDavid Hits 1,000 Points as Edmonton Oilers Edge Nashville Predators 3-2 in Overtime

Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers achieved a significant milestone during an overtime match against the Nashville Predators on Thursday. He became the fourth-fastest NHL player to reach 1,000 points. This achievement was marked early in the second period when McDavid scored a goal from a 2-on-1 play assisted by Leon Draisaitl, outmaneuvering Scott Wedgewood.

In addition to his milestone goal, McDavid also assisted on Darnell Nurse's overtime goal, which secured a 3-2 victory for the Oilers. This victory was McDavid's third consecutive win, bringing his career tally to 341 goals and 659 assists.

Darnell Nurse scored the first goal for the Oilers in the second period, and Calvin Pickard was instrumental with impressive saves, stopping 21 shots. Despite a breakaway goal by Cole Smith for Nashville, the Oilers secured the win in overtime.

Roman Josi of the Predators continued to impress with his 11th assist. McDavid's performance extended his 15-game point streak against Nashville, accumulating an impressive 10 goals and 36 points against them.

A crucial moment in the game was when Draisaitl set McDavid up for a breakaway, resulting in a game-tying goal. Notably, McDavid reached 100 points within just 58 games, showcasing his exceptional skill and consistency.

The Predators will proceed with their schedule in Alberta by facing Edmonton and Calgary, while the Oilers are set to play against Toronto in the first part of their three-game trip.
