Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

Oilers captain Connor McDavid experienced a lower-body injury only 37 seconds into the game where they faced a 6-1 defeat against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.

McDavid tripped over Zach Werenski, a defenseman for the Blue Jackets, while moving across the blue line, causing him to crash into the boards in an awkward manner. He managed to leave the ice without assistance but did not come back to the game.

Before undergoing tests on Tuesday, the Oilers will continue with two more matches on their road trip. The team plans to release an update regarding his condition following these tests.

Having already accumulated 10 points this season, McDavid, who is the current Conn Smythe holder, was noticeably missed as the Oilers’ record fell to 4-5-1.

Although the Oilers managed a late goal, Elvis Merzlikins of the Blue Jackets successfully blocked 31 shots, while Mattias Ekholm managed to score and Stuart Skinner achieved 19 saves for the Oilers.
