Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

In Sunrise, Florida, Connor McDavid has pushed the Stanley Cup Final series to a Game 6 in Edmonton after delivering a standout performance in Game 5. The Oilers' star player netted two goals and provided two assists, raising his playoff total to 42 points, just five points short of Wayne Gretzky's record of 47 points in 18 games.

McDavid's impressive run continues with the team amassing 80 goals in the playoffs. This trajectory positions him to potentially become the second player in NHL history to contribute to more than 50% of his team's goals, a feat only achieved by Gretzky.

Connor McDavid expressed his enthusiasm for the playoffs, mentioning the added thrill of travel and preparation for the upcoming game on Friday.

The Oilers have joined the ranks of just four NHL teams to trail 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final and force a Game 6. Notably, the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs are the only team to have overcome this deficit to win the Cup.

Goalie Stuart Skinner commended his team, particularly highlighting their resilience and his own streak of nine consecutive wins in elimination games.

McDavid achieved his second consecutive four-point game, marking the first instance of a player amassing eight points in back-to-back Stanley Cup Final games. This postseason, he has four games with four or more points, a record unmatched since Mark Messier in 1988.

In terms of elimination game points in the Stanley Cup Final, McDavid now holds the top spot in NHL history with eight points.

Corey Perry praised McDavid's ability to lead and carry the team, reflecting on his own first playoff goal assisted by McDavid.

During the game, an early shorthanded goal by Connor Brown set the pace, followed by a power-play goal from Evan Bouch
