In Vancouver, Conor Garland was a standout performer with two goals, propelling the Vancouver Canucks to a narrow 4-3 win against the Vegas Golden Knights. Contributions came as well from Quinn Hughes and Brock Boeser, each adding a goal and an assist to the tally. J.T. Miller played a significant role, setting up three goals, while Arturas Silovs secured the net with 20 saves for the Canucks.
Vegas saw a brace from Jack Eichel and a goal plus an assist from Noah Hanifin, with Logan Thompson making 26 saves. Despite taking an initial 2-0 lead, the Golden Knights saw the Canucks battle back to level the score and then surge ahead to victory.
With this win, the Canucks continue to lead the Pacific Division, and the Golden Knights cling to the second wild card in the Western Conference. The game featured effective power play efforts from both teams, with Vancouver scoring on two of three opportunities and Vegas converting two of four.
Eichel kicked off the scoring with a power play goal and then doubled Vegas' advantage. However, Garland’s contribution on the power play and Hughes' tying goal brought the Canucks back into contention before the first period concluded. Hanifin momentarily put Vegas ahead once again with a power play goal, but Boeser’s equalizer and Garland's decisive goal later in the second period sealed the Canucks' win.
The match also marked Garland's 400th NHL game, an occasion that was celebrated by his teammates donning T-shirts featuring his likeness, a gesture Garland found amusing and stress-relieving before the game.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will set their sights on Edmonton for a Wednesday match-up, while the Canucks aim to continue their winning ways against Arizona at home.
