Karel Vejmelka made an impressive 37 saves, leading the Arizona Coyotes to a decisive 4-1 win against the New Jersey Devils. Their victory was significantly set up by a dynamic first period during which they netted three times.
Scorers for Arizona included J.J. Moser, Dylan Guenther, Logan Cooley, and Clayton Keller, with Keller also contributing an assist on Guenther's goal, marking a milestone of 400 points in his career. Nick Schmaltz played a key role, providing assists for three of the goals scored by the Coyotes.
The Devils' sole goal came from Nick DeSimone, amid a troubling phase where they have experienced several losses, dropping six out of their last eight matches. Following a tough first period, the team's coaching staff made the decision to swap goalies, bringing Nico Daws in to replace Kaapo Kahkonen.
A heavily emphasized game strategy for the Coyotes was to hit the ground running from the start, a plan which head coach Andre Tourigny felt was executed well by the team. The Devils, on the other hand, encountered difficulties early on, particularly highlighted by DeSimone's giveaway leading up to the Coyotes' third goal.
In the final period, Clayton Keller sealed the victory with a goal into an empty net. The game also saw a fight between Kurtis MacDermid of the Devils and Josh Brown of the Coyotes.
Looking forward, the Coyotes are set to go up against Dallas come Wednesday, whereas the Devils are scheduled to meet with Vegas on Sunday.
