Philadelphia Flyers News & Updates

Ivan Fedotov's agreement with CSKA Moscow was abruptly ended, making it possible for him to move to the Philadelphia Flyers.

While CSKA has announced that it will maintain Fedotov's rights within the KHL and has expressed its good wishes for him, there has been no immediate response from Flyers General Manager Danny Briere or Fedotov's representative to inquiries.

At 27, Fedotov finds himself with the Flyers due to a prior contract being put on hold. His initial effort to transition to the Flyers in July 2022 was thwarted when he was detained and required to serve a year at a military base.

After completing his service, Fedotov entered into a two-year deal with CSKA, participating in games up to March 8th, upon which his team was knocked out of the KHL playoffs.

The IIHF imposed sanctions on Fedotov and CSKA last summer, taking the side of Philadelphia, because of Fedotov's standing NHL contract with the Flyers.

During the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Fedotov represented the Russian Olympic Committee and played a pivotal role in advancing his team to the final against Finland.
