Minnesota Wild News & Updates

The Minnesota Wild have revealed that Darby Hendrickson, who has served as an assistant coach for a long time, will not be returning for the next season.

Hendrickson began coaching with the team in 2010 and was one of the original players of the franchise, playing from 2000 to 2004. Throughout his coaching tenure, he has worked under every head coach in Wild history except for Jacques Lemaire.

A native of Minnesota, Hendrickson earned the title of Mr. Hockey in the state during his high school years in 1991 and later spent two seasons at the University of Minnesota. Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1990, he accrued 129 points over 518 NHL games across five different teams, including 60 points in 182 games while with the Wild.

The Wild picked Hendrickson from the Vancouver Canucks during the 2000 expansion draft, and he notably scored the first goal at Xcel Energy Center against the Philadelphia Flyers.

General manager Bill Guerin expressed his admiration for Hendrickson's contributions to the team, noting the positive impact he had on both the Wild and the State of Hockey. He extended his best wishes to Hendrickson and his family moving forward.
