Ron Francis, the Seattle Kraken's general manager, is currently assessing the work of head coach Dave Hakstol following the team's failure to secure a postseason berth for the third year.
Francis has relayed that an evaluation of the season is underway and that decisions about Hakstol's future with the team will be announced in the weeks ahead.
Last season, Hakstol, who was a contender for the Jack Adams Award, holds a coaching record of 107 wins, 112 losses, and 27 overtime/shootout losses during his tenure with Seattle.
Although the team demonstrated strong defensive play, their offense lagged significantly, placing them 29th in the league for both goals scored and shooting efficiency.
Francis has pointed out the critical need for offensive improvement and has highlighted the team's financial flexibility and the availability of draft selections as means to bolster the roster.
The Kraken experienced an uneven start to their campaign but found a rhythm towards the end of December and into January.
A defeat at the hands of San Jose just before the All-Star break forewarned of the season's lackluster second half.
Post-All-Star break, the Kraken's performance dipped, leading to a record of 13 wins, 16 losses, and 3 overtime/shootout losses, with a critical loss to Vegas dashing their playoff aspirations.
